Plans for new homes look set to be given go-ahead despite objections

PLANS to build 51 homes in Southam look set to go ahead despite strong objection.

Developers Hayfield Homes plan to build on land off Manders Croft. A total of 18 properties will be classed as affordable housing, with some up for rent and shared ownership.

But the development has not been welcomed by residents, who sent more than 100 letters of objection to Stratford District Council.

They raised concerns including loss of wildlife, over-subscription to schools and many said that the loss of land will ‘significantly’ impact dog walkers.

Ward member Coun Tony Bromwich also said he was worried about site access and the large number of homes being built in Southam.

Councillors are set to approve the plans at a meeting on Wednesday (February 28).
