ARTISTS are mixing it up in Leamington.
The Open 2019 exhibition can be seen at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum until May 27.
The biennial exhibition showcases the work, in a range of media, of professional artists based in the West Midlands.
Artists were invited to submit work through an online portal and the gallery received nearly 300 artworks for the judges to shortlist.
The judges will decide on an overall prize winner who will receive the OPEN 2019 award of £1,000.
Visitors to the exhibition will also be given the chance to vote for their favourite artwork. The work of art which receives the highest public votes will be presented with the People’s Choice Award of £500 which is supported and funded by Friends of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum.
In the 2017 exhibition, Nicola Durrant and Wendy Campbell-Briggs won the OPEN 2017 prize with their pieces, Storm Clouds Approaching and Lacrimae Rerum VIII. Annabel Rainbow won the People’s Choice Award with her quilt, Self Portrait in the Third Person.
Curator Alice Swatton said: “OPEN exhibitions have been held at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum since the 1930s and continue to be extremely popular.
“This is the perfect chance for local artists to showcase their work in an exhibition, possibly for the first time.”
Admission is free.
