THE FOUNDATIONS have been laid for a new community centre in Bishop’s Tachbrook.

St Chad’s Community Centre has been designed to meet the needs of an increasingly expanding population and is set to offer facilities in the heart of the community when it opens next June.

The bulk of funding for the project – the total cost of which is £533,500 – came from Warwick District Council via govenrment cash for house building undertaken, together with £50,000 from Bishop’s Tachbrook Parish Council and Wren which supports

projects in the county for those living near landfill sites.

Andrew Day, chairman of the St Chad’s Trust, said: “The St Chad’s Centre will provide a real boost to the people of Bishop’s Tachbrook.

“It’s fantastic news that Warwick District Council, Bishop’s Tachbrook Parish Council and WREN have awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our new community facility taking shape over the next nine months.”

Coun Peter Whiting, council finance spokesman, added: “The trustees have done a fantastic job raising funds for this centre, and we are happy we have been able to contribute.

“This project will bring a real sense of community to the heart of the parish.”
