STAFF from a hospice charity left the office and headed for the frontline to boost takings at three of its high-street shops by £500.
Teams from Myton Hospices took over three of the charity’s shops for their first ever Retail Challenge, a friendly competition in which they had to come up with inventive ways to encourage more customers through the doors.
After a day of baking, bartering, window-dressing and fancy dress costumes, the Marketing & Communications team was declared victorious, having increased the takings of the Rugby shop in Church Street by half.
They beat the Fundraising team which manned the Bedford Street shop in Leamington, and the Senior Leadership Team which ran the Coventry Cheylesmore shop for the day.
The charity’s partnership manager Hannah Morris said: “Thank you to everyone who visited one of the three shops which had been taken over. From raffles, bake sales and live models, we hope you enjoyed the inventive ways staff came up with to try and increase the day’s takings as much as we did.
“The teams managed to bring in an extra £500 between them which is fantastic and will help us towards raising the £8.8million needed to keep our services running for people who need us most this year.”
The charity is encouraging teams from local businesses to get involved with the Retail Challenge this month. Each team will be given one of Myton’s 22 charity shops to take over and increase takings.
