A FUNDRAISING fanatic is taking on yet another challenge – this time to canoe from Stoneleigh Abbey to Warwick Castle.
Alexandra Pearson, Community Champion at Morrisons Leamington, is taking on her fourth charity challenge of the year on September 18.
She will be joined by Richard Edgington, the former Mayor of Warwick, and her dogs Archie and Chester, as she paddles from Stoneleigh Abbey to Warwick Castle in a canadian canoe in aid of Warwickshire Search and Rescue.
Alex has gained a reputation for her crazy challenges and has already ridden a pedalo down the Grand Union Canal and completed 15 mile dog walks to bank cash for charities including Safeline, Molly Olly’s and Evelyn’s Gift.
She told the Observer the decision to complete a fundraiser for Warwickshire Search and Rescue was simple.
Alex continued: “The work they do in the community isn’t just finding people who are missing or vulnerable but they also do support me in my role.
“Every Christmas they support me with our Operation Snowfall which supports families to have a good Christmas, they also supported me by taking food parcels out to the people during the lockdown who couldn’t leave the house. The team are all volunteers and it only works because of the fundraising the team do.
“One thing I am nervous about is I have never rowed before and the only water challenge I have done is on a pedalo which is very sturdy. I assume we will get wet but we are in safe hands as some of the water team from search and rescue will be in the water on the day.
