Kosmos set to take audiences on a trip round the world

Leamington Editorial 11th Feb, 2022   0

KOSMOS, a group of three string players and a virtuoso accordionist, return to Warwickshire next week.

They play a concert at The Dream Factory in Warwick on Tuesday February 15 when the audience will be whisked round the world in 80 minutes, listening to klezmer and gypsy music, tangos and a selection of pieces from many different countries, with the Balkans and Mediterranean to the fore.

The Kosmos line-up consists of Harriet Mackenzie on violin, Meg Hamilton on viola and Rupert Gillett on cello, plus an accordion player from Serbia, Miloš Milivojević.

The group has played in the past in churches in Leek Wootton and Harbury and in Kingsley School and the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington, but this will be its first appearance in Warwick.

The day before (Monday February 14), the three string players, as part of the Leamington Music Education Programme, will visit Holy Trinity Primary School and King Edward VI School in Stratford.

Miloš Milivojević then joins them on Tuesday morning for some sessions at Evergreen SEN School in Warwick, before The Dream Factory concert.

Over the two days in schools, the musicians will perform to some 400 children ranging in age from seven to 16.

Leamington Music’s Education Programme, which operates in partnership with Warwickshire Music Hub, covers not just the area local to the concert venue but the whole county.
