A HOMELESS shelter is gearing up for Christmas and urging others to show their support.
Each year LWS Night Shelter runs a ‘reverse advent calendar appeal’ from the December 1 to 24.
On each of those dates they post a picture of an item that is needed at the shelter – from tinned food, to toiletries to underwear.
A full list will also be provided for those not on social media or who want to collect the items in one go.
Co-director Susan Rutherford said: “The idea is that people put each item in a box and deliver their completed box to the shelter on, or around, Christmas Eve – just like an advent calendar, but in reverse.
“The appeal has grown in success year upon year, with many people stating it has become a tradition for their family or workplace.”
It is the fourth year the appeal will have been held, and organisers say it has grown in success each year.
