Hill Close Gardens marks Lammas Day

Leamington Editorial 5th Aug, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

AN ANCIENT Anglo Saxon festival was celebrated in Warwick at the weekend.

Lammas Day marks the first harvest of the year and it was celebrated at the Harvest Weekend and Lammas Food Festival held at Hill Close Gardens on Saturday and Sunday (August 1 and 2).

Visitors to the Victorian gardens got a chance to learn about the history of the Lammas harvest and Lammas loaves – which included bread making demonstrations by artisan bakers Bread & Co and Bread for Life.
