Guirlguiders calling on adults to join in the fun

Leamington Editorial 3rd Oct, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

YOUNG girlguiders are calling on adults to come and join in the fun.

Hampton Magna Brownies in the Badger, Rabbit and Mole Sixes have spent the last few weeks preparing models of animals to accompany their entry in the Hampton Magna Scarecrow display.

And nearby Rainbows in Hampton on the Hill have been looking at what makes each of them so unique by drawing life-sized pictures of themselves.

But with girlguiding booming and more girls than ever wanting to join, new adult volunteers are needed to help cope with the numbers.

Tihany and Lucy from Hatton Brownies said: “More leaders make it more fun and it means we get to do exciting things but if we don’t have more leaders, not as many girls can join.”

Nicola Lomas, Girlguiding Castle Assistant Division Commissioner, added: “We are doing our best to extend Girlguiding opportunities to adult volunteers, and by so doing, helping to meet a need for the vast number of girls in the Chase Meadows, Hampton and Hatton areas.

“Girlguiding promotes flexible volunteering and understands potential volunteers have busy lives that sometimes prevent them attending sessions every week.

“The most important message is that girlguiding is great fun for the adults as well as the girls. It is also very rewarding as you help create opportunities for girls to develop their potential.”

Anyone interested in joining the team can get in touch with their local unit, find out more from the Girlguiding UK website, or call Nicola on 01926 426750.
