FUND-RAISING pupils are keeping up ties with those living in a poverty-stricken African village.
For the last 15 years Kenilworth School has held an annual week of events to raise money for Uyogo near Tanzania.
In that time staff and pupils have raised more than £80,000 through their ‘Urban Sounds for Uyogo’ events. They include concerts, dinner dances, cake sales, poetry workshops and non-uniform days.
This year the school has added some £5,000 to the total from their week-long fundraising drive, which was sponsored by The Assembly, Genius Bros and Mase Events.
The money will be donated to peacemaking Cord and Kenilworth-Uyogo Friendship Link, which works to improve health and education while relieving poverty in the area.
