Double helping of Ensemble 360 in Leamington

ENSEMBLE 360 return to the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington on Sunday February 6 to give two concerts.

In the morning at 11.30am there is a Family Concert with narrator Polly Ives which features the latest work by Paul Rissmann, Izzy Gizmo, based on the best-selling children’s book by Pip Jones and Sara Ogilvie.

Most of Rissmann’s works for children have been given over the years in Leamington by Ensemble 360, including Sir Scallywag and the Battle of Stinky Bottom, The Chimpanzees of Happytown and Stan and Mabel.

The story of Izzy Gizmo, for three to seven year-olds, revolves round an intrepid young inventor who puts her talents to work to rescue a crow that can’t fly.

Featuring original music including pots, pans, whistles and household items, as well as orchestral instruments, the concert makes a great introduction to music for children.

The same group of musicians with Benjamin Nabarro leading on the violin, returns in the afternoon at 3pm to play a concert of Mozart, Dvořák and Schubert.

Ensemble 360 has been in residence in Sheffield since 2005 as part of Music in the Round, the leading national promoter of chamber music. It was founded by Peter Cropper, leader of The Lindsays, the British quartet which for many years was a regular visitor to Warwick and Leamington.

The concerts are part of the Spring Season promoted by Leamington Music which continues until March 25 with concerts of early music and string quartets.
