A REPORTER has penned a memoir of his late wife who was treated for breast cancer at Warwick Hospital.

National cricket reporter Brian Halford published the book ‘Remembering Mary: A Story of Love, Laughter and Inspiration’ in celebration of his wife Mary Bonner, who received treatment at the Aylesford Unit before sadly passing away in 2019.

The book is available to purchase on Amazon in paperback or on Kindle with all money raised going to the Aylesford Unit.

In the book, Brian – who lives in Warwick and regularly donates to the unit – celebrates the life of Mary and the joy she brought to many people during her life. Brian and Mary met in 1991 and enjoyed 29 years together.

The book also offers thanks for the support the couple received from people within the NHS and beyond.

A South Warwickshire Foundation Trust spokeswoman said: “It is an uplifting and beautifully written tribute to a lovely lady.”

Mary left a significant legacy gift in her will to the benefit of the Aylesford Unit, the Breast Care Unit and the Warwick Hospital Cancer Support Group, as a thank you for the care she received at the hospital.

Brian said: “Warwick Hospital is a huge operation which employs more than 3,000 people. If there is, among that lot, from cleaners to consultants, one who does not sit somewhere between good and brilliant, we did not meet him or her.”

The book is priced at £5.98 in paperback or £2.64 on Kindle. Click here to buy.
