COMEDIAN Hal Cruttenden’s will be helping boost the coffers of a Leamington-based charity when he takes to the stage at Warwick Arts Centre.

The 46-year-old, who has appeared on Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo and Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, is patron of Thare Machi Education (TME).

The charity provides educational DVDs on topics such a HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB, diarrhoea, safe water and basic hygiene to the poorest communities of the world.

Recorded in the community’s own language, the DVDs focus on key facts and are also interactive making them popular with their target audience, many of whom cannot read or write.

Having recently lent his voice to a DVD on avoiding ebola, the funnyman has decided to help once more by agreeing to donate all the proceeds from his upcoming show at the university arts centre on Sunday November 8 to the Althorpe street-based charity.

The money will help fund TME’s ongoing work and allow more people to be reached with basic health education in their own language.

TME director, Rachel Butt, said: “Hal’s interest and involvement in our work is a huge encouragement.

“We’re so grateful to him and his friends and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible as every ticket sold will result in more lives being saved.”

Tickets – priced at £22.50 for adults and £18 for concessions – can be bought online at the Warwick Arts Centre website.
