Businesses affected by pandemic can apply for grant under new scheme

BUSINESSES in Warwick district impacted by the pandemic can apply for a grant under a new scheme.

Warwick district has been allocated £1.7million by government to support those who weren’t eligible for the initial grant scheme made available in April to help the retail, hospitality, leisure and hospitality sector.

It is the latest support being offered by the council, which has so far paid out more than £30million to businesses affected by the pandemic.

Businesses which can apply include bed and breakfasts, small businesses in shared offices and market traders with fixed building costs.

Warwick District Council business and finance spokesman, coun Richard Hales said: “We are very aware of the detrimental impact the pandemic has had on so many of our local businesses.

“The council’s finance team has worked tirelessly to ensure those who are eligible receive this lifeline support.

“However we know a number of businesses categories have fallen through the net. It’s important to stress this is a grant not a loan, so I would therefore urge businesses who may now be eligible to make an application and access the support which is now available to them.”
