TWO men are appearing at Coventry Magistrates Court after more than 400 cannabis plants were seized from a Leamington property.

Ibrahim Cura, 26, of no fixed abode has been charged with producing cannabis and criminal damage.

Ilirian Nebiu, 23, of Bath Street, Leamington as charged with producing cannabis.

Officers from Leamington Safer Neighbourhood Teams swooped on the disused commercial property in Bath Street yesterday (Wednesday).

They found the plants being grown across three floors after forcing entry to the building with specialist equipment.

The fire brigade had to be called after suspects at the property fled on to the roof. A crane was used to check there was nobody else on the roof.

Sergeant Trent McMurray from Leamington Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This seizure of the cannabis was an intelligence led operation based on information provided by the community. A key part of neighbourhood policing is engaging with members of the community and building links that help us better understand local issues.

“We are always looking for information on the use and production of drugs and will always act on information.”
