A NEW £5.2million affordable housing scheme for older people has been officially opened in Warwick.

A plaque was unveiled to mark the official opening of Housing & Care 21’s extra care scheme Rohan Gardens.

The All Saints Road scheme includes 42 self-contained one and two-bedroom apartments with support and care services on site. Half of the apartments are offered at affordable rent and half at shared ownership.

Rohan Gardens was built in partnership with Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council.

County adult social care spokeswoman Jose Compton said: “This is a fantastic scheme which will give older generations the opportunity to live independently and safely in their own homes in the heart of the local community.

“The scheme gives older people greater independence and control of their lives through purpose built, self-contained apartments, each with its own front door. It is a very real alternative to living in a residential care home.”
