  • Smoke therapist makes pledge to cancer cause

    Jo Cave

    10 January 2008

A HYPNOTHERAPIST from Warwick is helping smokers ditch their habit - and lending a hand to a cancer charity into the bargain.
Stop-smoking specialist Philip Rose, who practises at the Warwick Therapy Centre, has pledged to give ten per cent of the fees from his treatments throughout January to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
A reformed smoker himself, he is pulling out all the stops to help nicotine addicts by setting up a helpline and a website for those trying to kick the habit.
The NHS registered therapist said: “I thought the donation pledge would add an extra incentive to help as many local smokers as possible with quitting their habit for good.
"Hypnotherapy is a very powerful treatment and it is now generally acknowledged by the medical profession to be the single most effective way of giving up smoking. People are often surprised at how it can help them find the willpower to become a non-smoker for the rest of their lives.
“On the positive side, smokers can look forward to saving thousands of pounds every year when they quit. I should know - I used to smoke 30-a-day myself before I gave up for good 15 years ago."
Philip has set up a helpline for smokers who may be looking for advice on 07720 627614 and has posted information on his website at www.warwickhypnotherapy.com.
