Take a gamble on a trip to Las Vegas!

If you survived the yearly gamble that is a family Christmas, then you’re bound to love the glitzy casinos that Las Vegas has to offer. And in spite of what you’d think, it’s not as expensive as it used to be, either.

Vegas is out of this world. It’s awash with neon lit bars and clubs, and the strip has just about everything you could want from your all inclusive vacations. You certainly won’t be twiddling your thumbs in the day, either, and if you want somewhere to take the family, the Grand Canyon is a must-see.

To ensure that you get the best from your weeklong Las Vegas breaks, we’ve come up with a list of things that you can do with the whole family.

Clown around with the kids in Vegas

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Vegas is all about the nightlife. But actually, this ex sleepy frontier town is the ideal holiday destination for people of all ages. The children will be mesmerised by the ongoing acts at Circus Circus and the world-famous Cirque du Soleil, and you won’t hear a peep out of them while their learning exciting new things at the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum.

Shop till you drop

If you’ve not put your whole budget on black already, we’d recommend that you pay a visit to Vegas’ huge shopping arcades – Palazzo, the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, and the Forum Shops located inside Caesar’s Palace are a great place to start. You’ll find yourself rubbing shoulders with celebs and high-rollers while you browse the designer stores.

Dine out, Vegas style

You’ll not be short of fantastic places to eat out on your family vacation in Las Vegas - It plays host to a collection of award winning and Michelin star restaurants. Sample French delicacies at the famed MGM Grand, owned by none other than Joël Robuchon, or enjoy the many buffets at establishments such as Paris Las Vegas.

Oh what a night...

No vacation in Las Vegas would be complete without a night-out on the main strip. Try your luck in the casinos, sip champagne in any of the lavish bars, or take a stroll through some of the world’s largest sound-and-light shows.  You’ll also be pleased to know that the cheesy entertainers of yesteryear are no more, and fantastic theatres now play host to some incredible shows including the Blue Man Group and a collection of top magicians. You should also take the opportunity to go and see some of the award-winning impressionists while you’re there – there are many to choose from.

Stay active

If you over-did it over Christmas, why not make up for it with a range of outdoor activities? Take the opportunity to enjoy a whole host of water sports at places like Lake Mead National Recreation Area, or have a whale of a time rafting in Colorado. And if you’ve always wanted to try horse riding, then where better to try it than at the famous Mount Charleston and Bonne Springs. It’s also worth considering a hiking trip along the Canyon, too.

You’ll find a range of fantastic vacation offers with Virgin but if you’re wondering where to stay in Las Vegas, the world-renowned Bellagio promises just shy of 20 restaurants, a 24-hour room service, and a fantastic nightclub - you’ll not need to go out of the resort unless you want to.
