Mindgame at Leamington's Loft Theatre

ANTHONY Horowitz's dark psychological thriller Mindgame kicks-off the new year at Leamington's Loft Theatre.

Mark Styler, a writer of ‘true crime’ stories, arrives at the Fairfields experimental hospital for the criminally insane with the hope of interviewing serial killer Easterman for a new book.

But the hospital’s Director, Dr Farquhar, is more than a little reluctant to grant his request, and Farquhar’s assistant, Nurse Plimpton, seems very anxious he should leave immediately.

Directed by Darren Scott, Roger Harding takes on the role of Styler, with Craig Shelton as Dr Farquhar and Ruth Herd as Nurse Plimpton.

Darren said: “Mindgame is beautifully crafted with multiple layers and evident back stories interwoven with complex characters and pertinent social issues.

“It’s littered with dark comedy and not so light horror, plot twists, shocks and surprises. All the clues are there, hidden in full sight, but will the audience be able to unravel them before all is eventually revealed?”

The production runs from Wednesday (January 23) to February 2.

On Thursday January 24, there will be 45 minute question and answer session at the end of the performance, at which the director and cast will take questions from the audience - with a focus on how psychology is used to treat and rehabilitate criminally insane patients.

Tickets can be booked online at any time vat www.loft-theatre.co.uk, or by calling 0844 493 4938 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. In addition, the box office will be open from 6.45pm to 8.30pm on January 21 and 22, and on each performance evening.

Under 25s and NUS card holders can purchase tickets for £5 for the performances on January 28 and 29 (subject to availability).

Mindgame contains scenes of violence and is not suitable for children.
