INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed viol consort Fretwork, with lutenist Elizabeth Kenny, pay tribute to John Dowland
at Warwick's St Mary's on Tuesday January 22.
All the music in the concert will be by Dowland who was born in London in 1563 - a year before Shakespeare who he outlived by a further ten. In his time the universal appeal of his music, as composer and lutenist, made him far better known throughout Europe than the Bard.
The Leamington Music winter season of 23 concerts continues on Friday January 25 when the Carducci String Quartet perform at the Pump Rooms in Leamington, followed by the Skampa Quartet from the Czech Republic in February and the Brentano from USA in March.
The Music in the Round series at Warwick’s Bridge House Theatre continues on Sunday February 3 with Ensemble 360, which will give a Family Concert at 11.30am for the ages three plus, and a full afternoon concert at 3pm. The same formula is repeated by Onyx Brass on February 24, and Ensemble 360 with a completely different programme on March 17.
Tickets for all concerts are available from the Bridge House Theatre Box Office online at www.bridgehousetheatre.co.uk, or by calling the box office on 01926 776438.
