THE HEADMASTER of Warwick School has announced his retirement after 11 years in the role.

Ed Halse will be replaced in September by his current deputy, Gus Lock.

The change comes at a particular high point for the historic school following a glowing inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

The report praised the quality of achievement and learning, commenting 'In both the junior school and the senior school the quality of the pupils’ personal development is excellent. Pupils’ behaviour is outstanding; courtesy abounds and helpfulness thrives.'

Mr Halse said: “I am delighted with the inspectors’ views as they accurately recognise Warwick School as a safe, exciting, stimulating and challenging environment for our boys.

“I am also extremely pleased to be handing the reins to Mr Lock who is an exceptionally talented professional who possesses all the qualities necessary to ensure Warwick School continues to progress in all areas.”

On his appointment Mr Lock said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed headmaster of Warwick School. This is an exciting time for the school and I look forward to building on the exceptional opportunities the boys enjoy whilst maintaining the impressive standards laid down by the current headmaster."
