THIS year's Leamington Lantern Parade is set to be the biggest yet and there is still time to make their own and take part.

More than 500 lanterns, of all shapes and sizes, have already been made by people of all ages at workshop held across the town.

The next workshop, free to attend with materials provided, takes place at the Spa Centre from 10am to 4pm this Sunday (November 25), with a further session to be held at the same venue on Saturday December 1.

The Lantern Parade will start at 5.30pm on Thursday December 13 in the Pump Room Gardens, heading up The Parade accompanied by music and ending with Christmas Carols around a tree of light outside the town hall.

Organiser Stephanie Kerr from BID Leamington said: “The lantern making workshops are becoming quite a family tradition in Leamington with lots of friendly rivalry as to who can produce the most imaginative and spectacular lanterns.

“The fact that we already have 500 suggests we should far surpass last year’s parade of 400 lanterns. The workshops are helping to build on the sense of community spirit and fun that Christmas brings out in people.”
