Hi: 9° Lo:3° 7 day

SOUTHAM United’s FA Carlsberg Vase second round tie against Long Eaton United fell victim to the weather for the second time on Tuesday, when it was called off after a second pitch inspection at 2.45pm.
Saturday’s match had also been cancelled when heavy rain left a waterlogged patch in the penalty area at the clubhouse end and further falls through Monday and Tuesday meant that the tie had to be re-arranged again.
It will now be played on Tuesday (7.45pm) and the winners face a trip to Midland Alliance outfit Rocester in round three on Saturday, December 8..
This Saturday, Saints are away to Coventry Copsewood in the third round of the Coventry Telegraph Challenge Cup.
Lee Knibbs’ team go into the contest having not played for three weeks, whereas Copsewood were in action last Saturday, drawing 1-1 with Atherstone Town at Allard Way.
Saints won the trophy in 2010-11 when defeating Alvis, but the Coventry side got their revenge when knocking them out last season.
The re-arranged Vase tie means that Saints trip to Blackwood on November 27 is off and they will complete the month having played no league fixtures.
