FLOOD warnings appear to remain in place across the area this morning (Friday) after a further night of rain and high winds.
Environment Agency warnings issued earlier this week for the River Avon at Warwick, and the River Leam in Leamington, seem to still be in force.
In Bearley, south Warkwickshire, metal panels were blown off a barn roof yesterday. The crown courts of Warwickshire Justice Centre, Leamington, also had to be evacuated after four huge glass panels shattered in strong winds.
Last night police and the fire service assisted in flood evacuation at Warwick greyhound track, off Emscote Road, helping an elderly woman and 70 dogs safety from rising waters.
In the north of the county, in Nuneaton, a car was crushed by a large falling tree, with the driver - a woman in her 50s - miraculously only suffering a cut to her head.
An ambulance service spokesperson said: “With more heavy rain and strong winds expected, members of the public are asked to stay safe and be extra vigilant. If you’re out on the roads, please drive carefully.”
