STANDING ovations greeted Spa Opera's 'The Sound of Music' show in Leamington.
The run, from Tuesday to Saturday (October 23 to 27) at the Spa Centre, has been hailed a huge success with rave reviews from many of those who attended.
Spa Opera, affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, was founded in 1959 and have been performing at the Spa Centre since 1972.
The group have been rehearsing for the show since June after an amazing turn out at auditions with more 60 children auditionining for the roles of the Von Trapp Children and 14 Marias.
In the end 13 children from the local area were selected to play the roles of, Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl.
Spa Opera Committee member Rebecca Soley said: “The Children are truly magnificent, they have been a delight to work with over the last few months. I'm sure some of them are destined for the West End stage.
“As for the principles, we had a fabulous Mother Abbess who sung Climb Ev'ry Mountain - it bought a tear to many an eye and goose bumps, a very stern Captain Von Trapp, plus a very handsome Rolf, an elegant Baroness and not forgetting Maria who bought the role so famously known by Julie Andrews to life.
"They were supported by a talented cast of 24 supporting actors who took on the roles of nuns, German officers and festival players.”
