Alan Acyckbourn's Improbable Fiction at Talisman

FICTION is certainly stranger than truth in a zany Alan Ayckbourn comedy at Kenilworth's Talisman Theatre.

Improbable Fiction centres on a very extraordinary meeting of a rather run-of-the-mill writers' circle.

Gathered at the home of group chairman Arnold, a writer of instruction manuals, are hopefuls in the world of romantic fiction, thrillers, science fiction, musical theatre and children's literature.

In common with many creative writing groups, they spend more time talking about writing than actually putting pen to paper.

But all that changes when, in a zany twist, the stories they always wanted to write start coming to life.

A Victorian costume drama fights for space with a classic 1930s murder mystery and a high-energy team of scientists battling an alien abduction. Add in a musical based on Pilgrim's Progress and a young female lead everyone wants to feature in their story and it's clear host Arnold is in for a busy evening.

Vicky Whitehill directs an experienced Talisman cast in the production which runs from Monday (November 12) to Saturday November 17.
