A memorial concert is being held in memory of Dr Dennis Brown and wife Jean. (s)
A CHURCH-GOING couple from Leamington with a lifelong passion for music are set to be honoured in a memorial concert.
Dr Dennis Brown passed away last year and wife Jean two years previously.
He served as vicar of Great Wolford in south Warwickshire between 1984 and 1996 and was a churchwarden at St Mary Magdalene’s Church in Lillington before he became a priest.
Upon retirement, the couple returned to live in Leamington and attended Lillington Parish Church, where Dr Brown took many services.
The concert, on October 26, will be held at St Mary Magdalene’s - a church the couple attended for much of their lives.
It is set to feature two young musicians whose performances Dr Brown had admired shortly before his death.
Violinist Callum Smart, 16, reached the final of the Young Musician of the Year competition in 2010 and Philip Higham is building a reputation nationally as a cellist.
Francis Brown, one of the couples three sons, and himself an organiser of concerts in Cardiff said the event would be a positive way of remembering his parents.
The concert starts at 7.30pm with proceeds to be shared jointly between the Royal School of Church Music and St Mary Magdalene’s.
Tickets are available priced £12 (concessions £10) in advance from the Bridge House Theatre box office on 01926 776438 and will also be available on the night subject to availability.
