A MAJOR fund-raiser for victims of rape and sexual abuse is being organised by charity Safeline.

A dinner and grand auction will take place on Friday October 12 at Warwickshire Golf and Country Club at Leek Wootton.

Tickets are £20 and there will be a drinks reception and two-course dinner, a grand charity auction and live entertainment by Leamington singer-songwriter Issy Ferris - who appeared on ITV celebrity talent show Born to Shine teaching Eastenders star Tracy-Ann Oberman how to sing and play guitar - and slam poet ‘Theo’, Worcestershire’s first poet laureate.

Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White will be opening the event and Leamington estate agent and experienced auctioneer James Hawkesford will wield the gavel at the auction,

Event organiser Colin Walker said: “We have some wonderful gifts for the auction ranging from holiday homes in Spain, France and Bulgaria, luxury spa treatments, visits to the House of Commons courtesy of MP Chris White and BBC Midlands Today courtesy of television presenter Nick Owen.

"There is something for everyone including hotel stays and meals, family attraction tickets, even home made cakes. Something for everyone, perfect for purchasing early Christmas presents.”

Warwick-based Safeline supports close to 400 survivors of rape and sexual abuse throughout the region, has more than 60 volunteers supporting a range of services including counselling. Basic running costs for the charity work out at £150,000.

In the last financial year Safeline provided almost 6,500 hours of counselling, dealt with 600 plus helpline calls, ran support groups, keeping safe young people’s project and an ISVA service supporting those wanting to report through the justice system. Safeline provides services from nine year olds upwards and has counselling centres covering Warwick, Leamington, Stratford, Shipston, Southam, and Coventry.

Anyone wanting to purchase tickets, take a table of ten, or offer an auction prize should contact Colin, Liz or Natalie on 01926 408315 or email office@safeline.org.uk
