Brian Reading. (s)
THE IDENTITY of a man found dead near Warwick Racecourse on Tuesday morning (September 25) has been confirmed as missing town resident Brian Reading.
Mr Reading, of Cape Road, was reported missing on July 22, the day after his 43rd birthday.
His body was found by a member of the public on Tuesday morning in trees on a remote piece of land adjoining Warwick Racecourse.
Police had carried out widespread searches for Mr Reading over the past two months, and had been assisted by the support of his friends and relatives who had appealed for information about his whereabouts.
A post mortem examination has shown that Mr Reading died as a result of hanging. His death is not being treated as suspicious. Confirmation of his identity was made using dental records.
The coroner has been informed and an inquest has been opened and adjourned until a later date.
Detective inspector Liam Barry, who led the investigation to find Mr Reading, thanked the many members of the public who helped in providing information, plus members of the media who helped to publicise that Mr Reading was missing.
Mr Reading’s family, and his friends have requested to be left alone at this time to enable them to come to terms with what has happened.
