Khalsa 2 Bowdon 2
BATTLING Khalsa picked up their first National League Conference North point of the season following a hard fought draw against Bowdon who were relegated last term.
Bowdon arrived with a 100 per cent record but Khalsa were not overawed with midfielders Alex Idione, Chris Darling and Jas Singh prominent.
Mickey Hayer and Gurminder Ghattaura worked well up front but the visitors opened the scoring by converting the rebound from a short corner which left keeper Chris Hurst helpless.
Khalsa equalised immediately with a clean strike by Idione from the edge of the circle following a clever ball from Amritpal Atwal.
The home side remained on top after the break with Jas Singh and Ghattaura constantly troubling the Bowdon deefence.
Khalsa were rewarded when Singh created a chance for Ghattaura who neatly rounded the keeper and fired home.
Bowdon hit back but struggled to break down the solid defence of Scott Angliss, Ben Stephenson, Jay and Aaron Nagra and when they did Hurst produced some fine saves.
Khalsa looked on course to celebrate their first win but Bowdon drew level in the closing stages.
