A DRIVER escaped serious injury after the car she was driving left the road, collided with a tree and overturned in Charlecote around 2.30pm.

The woman, who was in her 20s and travelling alone, was trapped for over an hour following the accident at around 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon (September 23).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The car was badly damaged and was in a precarious position in a ditch.

“Its driver, a woman in her 20s, had been trapped in her car for around one-and-a-half hours. The fire service helped cut her free and she was found to have cuts to her head, a leg and some back pain but was fortunately found to have no other significant injuries.

“She was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
