THE PLAY area at Acre Close Park in Whitnash is to officially re-open on Saturday afternoon (September 8) following a £74,000 facelift.
The transformation has seen the play area completely resurfaced, equipment revamped and a new fenced area for toddlers installed, while a new skate ramp has also gone in.
The project, supported by a host of local organisations and authorities, has been long in the planning after initial inspiration came from two Whitnash mums, Sioban Mulherin and Claire Jones, who wanted a better park for their children and set up community group Friends of Acre Close.
Sioban said: “All the hard work has been worth it - the new play area looks fantastic!
“We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us along the way.”
Mayor of Whitnash, coun Adrian Barton, added: “What makes Whitnash unique is that it is a real community and the park project at Acre Close just shows what people can do when they get together.”
The mayor will attend the official opening from 1pm onwards on Saturday and all are welcome to attend, with refreshments being served.
