TWO GOLFERS who progressed through the junior section at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club were celebrating at the club championship.
Chris Dougill was been crowned club champion for the fifth time, while Luke Brown claimed the best nett prize, with both players rising through the ranks due to the coaching of Matt McGuire.
Dougill carded rounds of 71 and 68 for a gross total of 139 which put him clear of Luke Brown 143 (73 and 70) and Ron Edmondson 146 (71 and 75).
Colin Knapp posted the best gross of 70 in round one from Edmondson 71 and Neville Gardner 71, while Dougill took the honours in round two with 68 from Brown 70 and Edmondson 75.
Brown did have the consolation of lifting the best nett award with 131 (64 and 67), finishing well clear of Karl Adams 137 (69 and 68) and Knapp 137 (63 and 74).
Knapp finished top of Division One in round one with 70, nett 63, from Brown 73, nett 67, and Edmindson 71, nett 67.
Wayne Brown took the Division Two honours with 79, nett 66, from Paul Darcy 86, nett 68, and Malcolm Sparrow 86, nett 68.
Division Three success went to Carl Ohrman 90, nett 67, from Karl Adams 90, nett 69, and Trey Edmondson 98, nett 71.
Luke Brown carded the best score in round two with 70, nett 64, finishing ahead of Karl Adams 89, net 68 nett, and Chris Dougill 68, nett 68.
Meanwhile, Stoneleigh Stags suffered a 4.5-3.5 defeat in an inter-club friendly match at Stratford Oaks.
