WARWICK Thai Festival had the rare luxury of sunshine on Sunday (July 15).
The annual event was hailed the most successful yet as rain held off to allow happy crowds to enjoy the sights and sounds of the festival in Market Place.
Thai drummers and dancers led the way from the Warwick Castle courtyard through the streets to the opening ceremony, after which stalls were soon busy selling Thai food and crafts and visitors were entertained by events all day on stage including Thai dancing and drumming.
At the end of the day raffle tickets were drawn with one lucky person winning a holiday to Thailand courtesy of Westeast travel. Other sponsors Chang beer were so successful they eventually ran out of beer.
Alan Bailey from organisers Warwick Rotary Club, said: “It was our most successful year ever – thanks to the brilliant sunshine – I don’t think you could have squeezed anyone else into the square.
“We have had a long association with Thailand; we helped after the Tsunami and last year provided a dialysis machine, so it’s really great to bring Thailand here to Warwick for a day.”
