FOUR friends have completed a 300-mile charity cycle ride from London to Paris.
Paula Poland and Jayne Barrow, both 47 and from Cubbington, 48-year-old Vivian Robinson from Lillington and Katie Huckvale, 47, from Brighton, completed the epic challenge in extreme summer heat over five days from June 27 to July 1.
They raised hundreds of pounds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research after another of their close friends was diagnosed with the condition.
One of the group said: “The route was more difficult than we anticipated and we were presented with some challenging hills and extremely hot conditions, but we are all elated and very proud to have taken part.”
To boost funds by £350, Jayne's daughter Katie Barrow, 23, held an event supported by local businesses at The Hope & Anchor pub in Leamington, featuring cake sales, face painting and raffles with prizes such as massages and free car services.
One of the sponsors, Daniela Kimberley, a graphic designer at local company Sketch, said: " It was a pleasure to be involved - not only did the ladies work very hard rallying round raising money for this very worthy cause, but we mustn't forget the challenge of cycling that many miles through France in the heat of June!”
