A WEDDING fair and polo exhibition matches will be held in aid of Help for Heroes in Southam on Saturday (July 14).

Dallas Burston Polo Club, on Stoneythorpe Estate off the A425, plays host to the events between 11am and 4pm, entrance to which is free.

A wedding fair well be held in a marquee, while there will be three polo tournaments plus an exclusive Royal Artillery Exhibition Game.

A barbecue will be serving food by Rupert Davie, once chef to the Thai Royal family, with a bar open and spectators invited to bring picnics along.

FREE Flash Fiction and Haiku poetry workshops take place at Oxfam in Leamington from tonight (Thursday).

As part of national Oxfam Bookfest, a Haiku workshop for beginners will tell people more about the ancient form of Japanese short poetry, running from 7.30pm and free to attend.

Tomorrow night (Friday) from 7.30pm, Alyson Morris, senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Coventry University, hosts a Flash Fiction workshop giving people advice and guidance on how to come up with their own 'short short' stories and how they can inject bite-sized bursts of creativity into their work.

BURTON Green village is gearing up for its first Made in Burton Green event celebrating arts and crafts in the community.

A weekend of activities will showcase the creative talents of residents - including ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and textiles - on Saturday and Sunday (July 14 and 15).

There will be a willow sculpture trail and scarecrow competition staged along the Kenilworth Greenway between Crackley and Burton Green.

Scarecrows should be brought to the Greenway at Cromwell Lane on Friday July 13, between 3pm and 4.30pm or 6pm - 8pm, for registration and display.

UKIP'S Warwick and Leamington branch hold an open meeting in Harbury on Friday night (July 13).

The get-together, from 7.30pm at the Shakespear Inn on Mill Street, will be addressed by Lord Willoughby de Broke, member of the House of Lords and member of UKIP.
