WARWICK JUNIORS scooped the Charter Standard Club of the Year at the Birmingham County Football Association Community Awards ceremony.
Coaches, volunteers and club and league representatives from all over the county came together for the awards which recognised and rewarded the unsung heroes of grassroots football.
Nominations were received from across the county for all eight award categories and the winners were selected by a Charter Standard Community Awards Panel from the County FA.
It was a massive achievement for Juniors who were founded by stalwart Dean Brandrick 12 years ago.
A delighted Brandrick said “It is a well deserved award for all the efforts everyone connected with the club has put in, on and off the field.”
The club will be running no fewer than 19 teams this year for girls and boys along with their popular Saturday morning junior coaching sessions.
Brandrick added: “Like any organisation we are always looking for help and we have openings in all age groups. Anybody interested can contact the club on warwickjuniorsfc@gmail.com”
Steve Wharton from Leamington Lions also celebrated after lifting the Coach of the Year award.
The winners from Birmingham County FA will now be put forward to the regional stage before hopefully progressing to the national shortlist.
The winners of the national awards will be selected by a judging panel which is likely to include Geoff Hurst and Sir Trevor Brooking and will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
