Brakes snap up new faces

PAUL HOLLERAN has been busy in the transfer market again.

The Brakes boss has signed the versatile Joe Magunda from last season's Southern League Premier Division champions Brackley Town and striker Jimmy Deabill who finished last season at Redditch United.

At home in defence or midfield, Magunda was part of the Saints squad that won promotion to Blue Square Bet North, but has opted to join his home town club to further his career.

The 23-year-old graduated from the Academy at Leicester City, and featured for the Foxes reserve side before a loan spell at Conference side Woking in 2008.

After his release from Leicester, Magunda made 21 appearances for Kings Lynn in the Northern Premier League before the Linnets were wound up in late 2009.

The former England under 16 and under 17 international moved on to Brackley and helped them reach the play-offs in 2010 although Injury prevented him from playing a bigger part in last season's success.

Holleran said: "We are very pleased Joe has signed and there is no doubt that joining his local club was a big factor in his decision.

"Joe has a good pedigree and I am hopeful that we will give him the platform to progress his career and fulfill the potential he showed as a youngster at Leicester."

Meanwhile, tall 23-year-old front man Deabill will bolster Brakes strike force.

Holleran said: “At 6 foot 5” he may be described as a target man, but he is equally adept with the ball at his feet and also with his head.”

As a youngster he was prolific in the Hellenic League for Kidlington. He switched to Oxford City in the summer of 2011, but moved on to North Leigh for a brief spell before being snapped up by Redditch in October for who he scored eight goals.
