A SPOT of rock n roll therapy is being offered by a retired Warwick musician.

John Colledge, who was diagnosed with dementia last year, is keen to rekindle the bass guitar playing days of his youth by forming a new band for people in a similar position to himself.

The 65-year-old former retail manager believes it would help focus his mind and after a few jam sessions the new band could look to play a benefit gig in aid of dementia-related charities.

The Woodloes resident told the paper: “I played in a band in the 60s and 70s called The Ergs and have fond memories of the time.

“I thought it would be a bit of fun to speak to others in similar circumstances with a view to forming a band and rehearsing on a regular basis, supporting each other in the process. I hope we can get a real rock n roll sound going.

“I have good and bad days with my dementia but I was always taught to do the simple things but do them well, so that's what we'll aim for.”

Mr Colledge has guitars and some other instruments but is keen for anyone interested in finding out more to email him at john.colledge3@ntworld.com or call John on 01926 402772.
