Woman killed in M40 crash

A WOMAN died and two others were injured when their car was involved in a crash with a lorry on the M40.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway between the junctions at Henley and Warwick just after 1am on Friday (June 29).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A man had been driving the car. He had two women passengers, one of whom was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The other passenger, a woman in her 20s, had a head injury. The doctors on scene anaesthetised her and maintained her airway. She was given pain relief and was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire accompanied by one of the doctors.

“The driver, a man in his 50s, had a suspected broken arm and back pain. He was given pain relief at the scene and was immobilised before taken to the same hospital.

"The lorry driver was uninjured."
