POLICE probing an alleged sexual assault near Oakley Wood are trying to trace the driver of a car who helped the victim.
A 25-year-old woman got into what she believed was a taxi, outside Argos in the centre of Leamington, in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 23) but was then driven to the woods near Bishop's Tachbrook in car containing three men.
She was left by the roadside near the top of Wasperton Lane, at about 1am, when it is believed a passing male motorist came to her aid and gave her a lift to Fenny Compton.
DC Jennifer Gee of Warwickshire Police said she would like to speak to this driver as he may have vital clues to help establish what had happened earlier in the night.
Another motorist, who took the woman from Fenny Compton to her home in Northampton, has already been identified.
Police investigating the incident near to Oakley Wood crematorium had to seal an area off the area for forensic examination.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000.
