A schoolgirl had a 'remarkable' escape after this car ploughed through bushes and a fence. (s)
A SCHOOLGIRL had a remarkable escape after being found under a car which had driven through a fence, bushes and over a pavement.
The accident happened as the elderly woman driver left the car park of All Saints Church of England Community Primary School in Leek Wootton at around 4.40pm on Wednesday afternoon (June 27).
A senior ambulance officer was first on scene and was soon followed by a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and Warwickshire Air Ambulance.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When the senior officer arrived, he found teachers from the school with an eight year old girl who was underneath the car. Judging by the damage, it had come out of the car park, through a fence and some shrubs.
“The officer rolled the car off the girl’s leg and immediately started treatment.
“Thankfully, she had suffered remarkably minor injuries given the situation she was found in. She had a small head injury, a burn to her left thigh from being dragged, some minor abrasions to arms and legs, but no obvious fractures.
"It certainly appears as though she has been very lucky to get away with such minor injuries."
The youngster was given pain relief and immobilised before being airlifted to University Hospital in Coventry.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
