THE Corby 5 mile road race saw a welcome return to racing for Leamington C & AC’s Sue Harrison after a three month injury lay-off.

The Corby race is the fourth of eight races which make up the popular East Midlands Grand Prix series which attracts athletes from all over the Midlands.

Harrison was one of just two C & AC athletes competing, the other being Dave Potter and both were satisfied with their performances.

Potter’s time of 31-47 saw him finish 44th overall and 1st in the M55 age group, while Harrison was just eight seconds behind him in 31-55, finishing as 3rd female and taking the first Master’s prize.

Harrison, who is supported by The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club and Warwick Sports shop, said: “This is the first time I’ve run this course and it was incredibly hilly.

“If I’d have known that beforehand I might have chosen a flatter course for my first race back!

“ However, it’s a great relief just to be back racing after three months recovering from the torn calf muscle. Whilst I’m still a long way from race fitness I look forward to the challenges ahead.”
