A MASSIVE montage of art work reflecting the Queens reign, created by school children has been officially unveiled at the Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington

The new town mayor, coun Yvonne Moore, had the honour of revealing the art display in front of many of the children who had helped create it.

The 'Mirror the Era' project saw artists visit four local schools to help children decorate crown shapes with pictures and images reflecting the six decades of the Queen’s reign.

Each design formed part of an overall montage for each of the four schools which will be on proud display until Sunday (June 10).

Councillor Moore said: “I cannot think of anything more fitting to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

“I think the children have done really well and I am incredibly impressed by their work. What is lovely about this project is that it has given the children a day to remember and jubilee memories which will stay with them for a long time to come.”

There were special prizes awarded to individual schools and pupils for their artistic efforts. The overall winning school was Coten End Primary School, which received a £100 prize.

The overall winning design was created by Emily Ann Stevens Wilson, age nine, who was awarded £25 worth of vouchers and a trophy to mark her achievements.

MEANWHILE the seniors at Radford Semele Sports and Social Club celebrated the Jubilee in style.

The Group meet on the first Wednesday of each month and on June 6 enjoyed a special Fish and Chip lunch with mushy peas, supplied by the Tachbrook Road Fish Bar.

THE BANK holiday weekend weather was surprisingly perfect for Jubilee revellers in Leek Wootton – the extra water an unexpectedly appropriate addition to its boat pageant.

The event, sponsored by estate agency Brian Holt, the parish council and the sports club, was one of the highlights of an afternoon of activities which saw villagers making and propelling their own boats under three bridges without the aid of a river.

Participants warmed up after their chilly damp exertions with a welcome pig roast and disco.

The only thing to put a dampener on a fun filled if soggy day was the discovery the next morning that the two marquees which organisers had borrowed had been wrecked in the overnight wind.
