IT CAN safely be said that a newly-wed Leamington couple have a real love affair with the Two Castles Run.

In 2007 Andrea Newton met Victor Wixey as the pair were heading past the Anchor Pub in Leek Wootton while both were taking part in the annual run between Warwick and Kenilworth castles.

After striking up a conversation and later a relationship, the pair continued to take part in the run together.

In 2010, at the exact same spot they had met at three years earlier, Victor stunned Andrea by getting down on one knee to propose.

She was shocked but said yes and a further two years on the happy pair married on Saturday afternoon (June 9) at Kenilworth Castle – just 18 hours before both competed once again in the 30th annual ten-kilometre run, Mrs Wixey wearing a headdress as she was carried over the finish line by her new husband.

Andrea, 36, and accounts manager Vic, 44, live in Leamington with 16 month-old son Max, who was both best man and ring bearer at the weekend wedding.

Andrea, who works as an events manager at Stoneleigh Park, told the paper: “We definitely plan to keep doing the run every year.

“We met on the run in 2007, did the run each year after that and then he proposed on the run outside the Anchor Pub in 2010.

"Last year we even ran with our son Max in his buggy!”

The pair have now left for a honeymoon in Sorrento.
