Leamington Peace Festival to launch

LOOKING to create a better world for all will again be the aim at Leamington Peace Festival this weekend (June 16 and 17).

The annual free festival, held as usual in the Pump Rooms Gardens, will offer an eclectic mix of music and entertainment, together with peace talks, workshops, food stalls and more.

Particular emphasis this year is being put on youth, with a special tent hosting live lounge music, arts and crafts, and a sexual health roadshow.

Dave Steele, one of the organisers, said: “The Peace Festival is truly unique - a free festival allowing people of all ages to come and find out about ways of living life in a more harmonious way with each other and the environment."

Breathe the Beat, a global digital dance project, has also announced it will be stopping off at the festival on Saturday as part of its nationwide tour.

As part of the festival a special project on designing computer games for children will be held at Bath Place in the Old Library on Avenue Road. On each day a total of eight children aged ten to 12 will be able to take part in a the 'Siren Project' workshop, working with designers developing an educational game that will teach children conflict resolution skills plus social and emotional learning.
