Firefighters were called to Raynsford Walk, on the Woodloes estate, just after 12.30pm on Sunday (June 10).

A total of five engines from across the area attended the scene to tackle the blaze and four people were rescued from the third floor, with the building evacuated of a further 20 people in total.

Warwickshire Police said a man had been on Sunday arrested in connection with the fire and was in custody.

And 23-year-old John Ellard, from Newland Road, Leamington, has now been charged with arson with intent to endanger life

Ellard was arrested on Sunday after officers were alerted to the fire by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
