TRACY ATKIN produced a marvellous round to win the Lucas Gold Trophy at Leamington and County Golf Club.
Atkin carded a splendid gross 74 on a day of swirling winds and showers to lift the trophy.
The McDonald Trophy May qualifiers were Atkin and runner-up Martine Gilks in the Silver Division, while Sue Illingworth and Catherine Pritchard were successful in the Bronze Division.
Meanwhile, 96 entrants from 16 clubs competed in Leamington and County’s Open Mixed Greensome on Sunday.
Home advantage was put to good use as Leamington and County supplied the winning pair in men’s captain Des Bowen and Lesley Bennison who scored 38 points.
Stoneleigh Deer Park couple Teresa and David Wright were second, while home pair Liz and Tony Munton came third. Elaine and Philip Bruce, also of Leamington and County, squeezed into 4th place after a countback from four other couples.
The course was in excellent condition and nine couples shared the 2’s prize money, while nearest the pin was won on the 8th by Leamington’s Jen van Tiggelen,and on the 11th by Andy Gardiner (The Warwickshire).
The raffle raised £206 for the Captains’ Charities, which are Cancer Research UK and Myton Hospice.
