Burton 4 Khalsa 6

CHAMPIONS Khalsa extended their 100 per cent Midland League Premier Division record with a hard fought success in a high scoring clash at relegation threatened Burton on Saturday.

Mickey Hayer went close with an early effort and Aaron Nagra struck the upright from a short corner.

Nagra’s following corner was stopped illegally on the line, resulting in a penalty stroke which Gury Ghattauara converted.

Slick work from Dharminder Singh gained another short corner which was saved well but Chris Darling pounced to slot home the rebound and double the lead.

Burton hit back to level with with two goals in quick succession but a smart aerial ball from Jas Singh found Ghattauara who restored the lead just before the break.

Ghattauaracompleted his hat-trick and restored the two goal cushion early in the second half after more good work from Jas Singh.

Burton got back on level terms again by converting two penalty flicks but a penatrating run from Khalsa captain Sean Robinson earned a short corner from hich Nagra restored the lead.

And victory was sealed in the closing stages thanks to a superb individual effort from Surrinder Saini.

Khalsa face West Bridgford this Saturday.

The 2nds boosted their promotion push with a 4-0 victory over Old Halesonians via Jiwan Singh Sidhu, Amrick Signh Atwal, captain Andrew Pell and man of the match Anit Chudasama.

The 3rds completed a good day for the club by winning 4-2 at Stratford with Harnaik Singh Hayer 2, Harbinder Singh and Gurmail Singh Chana on target.
