Aylesford Hawks 159 Rebels (Coventry) 149

FREE-scoring Hawks hit a club record points haul to overcome a 115 point handicap and reach the Warwickshire inter-divisional shield semi-finals.

Ricky Fennell led the way with an excellent season high 67 points as Hawks turned on the style to beat the league new-boys.

Maartin De-Jonge controlled the game from the point position as captain Alex Birch hit a long three point effort but Fennell continually found the basket.

Fennell hit 23 points in the opening quarter as Hawks cut the deficit to 126-53 but they still trailed by 73 points.

Jim Martin and Gareth Davies started the second period to give Fennell and De-Jonge a well earned rest.

The pair were immediately on target but Hawks were not scoring enough for coach Curtis who brought back Fennell as the pace of the game increased.

Birch and Davies both scored two baskets but Fennell racked up a record 47 first half points as Hawks amassed 81 points to finish 133-96 down at half time.

Jordyn Gregory returned to the centre of the Hawks defence at the start of the second half, while Curtis gave his shooting star Fennell another well deserved rest.

Birch took over the scoring along with De-Jonge and Martin as Hawks continued to reduce the gap,

The well rested Fennell returned as Rebels hit team foul trouble but Hawks still had plenty to do as they trailed 142-123 going into the final period.

Birch, Joel De Lara Bond and Fennell continued to hit the target and Hawks finallt got their noses in front with just one minute remaining.

Fittingly, it was man pof the match Fennell who hit the basket to put them ahead, while further efforts from Davies and Birch sealed victory.
